Russia’s state-run television network Russia Today got New Zealand and Japan confused on a map.
The news channel labelled New Zealand as Japan in an embarrassing segment on missile bases in the South Hemisphere.
Presenter Ashlee Banks said “The US is looking to place missiles in Japan, South Korea and Australia,” as the map behind her showed almost a different area of the world.
A spokesperson for the channel said, “Our American early morning news team suffered a little geography mishap.”
New Zealanders will know that this isn’t the first time the country has been overlooked on the map. Check out this hilarious channel on Reddit which showcases the often inconvenient truth.
