Auckland

Located on the North Island, Auckland is New Zealand’s biggest city with a population of around 1.3 million.

SkyTower is an observation tower and the tallest freestanding building in the Southern Hemisphere, right in the center of town. To enjoy some of the most amazing views of the city, take the elevator to the top.  It costs just $28 NZD and there’s also a 360° revolving rooftop restaurant where you can dine in luxury.

Another awesome view of the city can be seen from Mount Eden. From the top, you will see all of Auckland and if you’re there at the right time of day, catch a truly divine sunset.

Waiheke Island

If you haven’t yet seen whales on your trip, head to Waiheke Island on the ferry and you might be lucky.

This beautiful island with its bohemian history is now a destination for lovers of good food and wine. Take a drive around to visit the island’s vineyards and wineries, making sure you stop small producers along the way. After a gourmet lunch, end with a swim in one of Waiheke’s turquoise coves before catching the last ferry back to the mainland. You’ll be forgiven for not wanting to leave – plenty of visitors over the years have decided to stay.
