Is Ed Sheeran a future Kiwi?

The 26-year-old British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran recently returned home after taking a year off from the music industry. During his trip, he spent time in New Zealand, and after that inquired about citizenship.

According to the Daily Star, Sheeran said, “I did ask for citizenship and I think we got an email from someone involved with that. So maybe that is going to happen. I could be a citizen.”

Talking about his reasons, Sheeran said: “I’ve always said that if a world war breaks out, the one place I would go to is New Zealand. Because no-one is going to be bothered to come that far to invade.”

He also visited Japan, Australia and Iceland, but found Iceland not particularly enjoyable due to an accident.

“I put my foot in a boiling geyser, by mistake, and couldn’t walk for a couple of months after that,” said Sheeran.

Talking about his personal life, Ed is thinking about having kids with his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. He says that feels very happy with her.

He shared: “I spent every day for a year with this person, we kind of have a strong relationship now which is good. I’m really secure now, we live together and we have cats, and I think when you have cats that’s kind of it.”
