Cardrona & Treble Cone

Wanaka
Wanaka is beautiful all year round, and extra special in winter.

Cardrona is a gem, offering activities for both singles and families. In the beginner’s area, you can take ski lessons to become more experienced.

Treble Cone is another haven for skiing fans. It is best known for long runs and fascinating views over Wanaka. It also has a speedy 6-seat lift.

Where to Stay | You can find apartments in Cardrona and a lot of hotels and backpackers in Wanaka

Craigieburn

Canterbury
Craigieburn is New Zealand’s ski paradise for expert and very experienced skiers and snowboarders. Non-profit, and run by club members, you will find high-class skiing sites and fantastic views, but don’t expect fine-dining or apres-ski options as facilities are simple.

Where to Stay | Some private room options are available with breakfast and a three-course dinner. Flock Hill Station is the right choice.

Mt Ruapehu

Central Plateau
Mt Ruapehu is New Zealand’s biggest winter ground. Whakapapa and Turoa ski areas are located here on two sides, and a lift pass gives you access to both slopes, which means you have more freedom and choice for your skiing.

Happy Valley in Whakapapa is the best places for learners and those who want to acquire more skills.

Where to Stay | We recommend the elegant Chateau Tongariro Hotel, but there are many other options to chose from.

Where to Eat | Try The Bearing Point Restaurant & Bar, Eat and OCR CafĂ©.

Just 90 minutes drive from Christchurch, Mt Hutt is probably the best ski field in New Zealand. Here you will find high-class conditions and amazing Kiwi hospitality. Freestyle parks and Skiwiland Early Learning Centre are located here, as well as two restaurants and a coffee shop on the mountain.

Where to Stay| There are a significant number of accommodation options. Mt Hutt Lodge is one, or it is is possible to book a holiday house.

Where to Eat | Brown Pub is good. Arabica is another excellent option for breakfast and coffee.
